Chow-Hoon Goshin Jitsu (“CHGJ,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) wants everyone to be able to learn about our classes, our history, and our instructors, and to use our members portal, regardless of ability or the technology they use.
Our Standard
We aim for the public website at chgj.org, the members portal, and our sign-up and sign-in forms to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
What We Have Done
- Built pages with proper headings, page regions, and a “Skip to content” link so screen reader and keyboard users can move around quickly.
- Provided text descriptions (alt text) for photos of our instructors, founders, and martial arts.
- Made every link, button, menu, and pop-up usable with a keyboard alone, with a clearly visible focus outline, and kept keyboard focus inside the instructor bio pop-up until it is closed.
- Checked text colors against our dark background so they meet the WCAG contrast minimum of 4.5:1.
- Labeled every field on our sign-up and sign-in forms and enabled browser autofill for names, email, and passwords.
- Tested the site at narrow phone widths, with enlarged text spacing, and with reduced-motion settings.
Known Limitations
- Class registration is handled on the Monterey Sports Center’s registration site, run by the City of Monterey through its provider Amilia. We do not control that site. If you have trouble registering, contact us and we will help you directly.
- Training videos in the members portal may not yet have captions or transcripts. We are working to add them. If you need a captioned version or a written description of a video, contact us.
Feedback and Help
If you run into any barrier on this website, or need information in a different format, please let us know. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what happened, and we will work with you to fix it or get you the information another way.
- Email: [email protected]
- In person: speak with any instructor before or after class at the Monterey Sports Center, 301 E Franklin Street, Monterey, CA 93940.
Ongoing Review
We review the site for accessibility as we add new pages and features. This statement was last reviewed on September 28, 2026.
